Offer description

Purpose of this role

To provide fault support to the electricity control team and manage GTC's electrical network planning requirements. This includes working with commercial and end‑user customers to facilitate their requests safely and effectively, and maintaining communication with upstream operators and other distribution network operators.


Key responsibilities

* Provide efficient updates to GTC end‑user customers regarding faults to reduce complaints and queries received by the Electricity Department.
* Complete summaries of faults and other operational issues on GTC networks, calculate customer minutes off‑supply to evaluate response team efficiency, and provide guaranteed standard payments to end‑user customers where applicable.
* Investigate voltage complaints and liaise with upstream operators to resolve long‑standing issues.
* Quote and organise GTC operatives to attend customer isolation requests.
* Assist in communicating with representatives of other distribution network operators undertaking connection and fault works, ensuring sufficient notification and updates are given to GTC end‑user customers.
* Perform standby duties within the Communications team as required, participating in a standby rota.
* Complete any other duties as required by the Network Operations Engineer.


Qualifications

* GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.
* City & Guilds Level 2 qualification.
* Experience communicating well with individuals at all levels and engaging with customers.
* Experience with Microsoft programmes including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge of the electricity distribution industry and Guaranteed Standards.


Skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an excellent telephone manner.
* Strong attention to detail for keeping accurate records and processing invoices.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.


Desirable

* A‑Levels or equivalent.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* Ability to identify process improvements.
