Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Contract Type: Permanent – Looking to start candidates Mid-August
Working Hours: 45 hours per week

About the role
The role is to carry out general maintenance repairs on a reactive basis, including fabric, surfacing and pipework, alongside delivering planned maintenance tasks on site to ensure sites remain safe, legal and trading. The role is mobile, covering various sites in a localised area (approximately 4–5 sites of varying types). We aim to complete tasks to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while complying with Health and Safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan structured attendance to deliver key activity at each site, completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive jobs on time within agreed SLAs
* Attend and complete all works following Health and Safety and Compliance guidelines as set out in each task sheet
* Communicate with the Asda team about on-site activity and build strong relationships with the customer and City team
* Utilise the Mercury platform to review and update jobs, ensuring accurate data is recorded on each task
* Respond promptly to service calls from the Helpdesk, assess requirements, and carry out repairs as necessary
* Order spare parts as required to carry out planned and reactive maintenance
Key Tasks
* Complete general repairs and maintenance to ASDA sites as designated by the management team (e.g., building fabric, car park surfaces, pipework)
* Clean air filters on HVAC equipment
* Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and as specified
* Identify non-repairable issues and advise line manager with recommendations for alternatives
* Work as part of a regional team and develop good relationships with City and ASDA colleagues
* Undertake other reasonable tasks as directed by the Regional Operations Manager
Qualifications / Experience
Essential
* Full driving licence
* GCSE or equivalent qualifications
* PC/iPad literate (Apple and Android)
* Previous experience in general building repairs (e.g., plumbing, joinery, small civil works)
* Ability to maintain/repair a range of building fabrics, equipment and ground works to recognised standards
Desirable
* Building Trade Qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds)
* Experience in a similar role/environment
* Civil works experience

* Ability to work with minimal supervision in a customer-facing environment with a professional can-do attitude
* Ability to organise self and manage assigned tasks, determine material requirements to complete tasks
* Experience of working at pace and supporting business needs when required
* Proactively look to improve standards on each site you are responsible for
