ABOUT THE ROLE Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you will support the Principal Investigator in the delivery of research activity on the project 'Enhancing physical activity and quality of life in patients waiting for lung transplantation through digital health'. Key responsibilities will include: Obtaining ethical approval and maintaining study documentation. Screening and recruiting participants for a feasibility study of a digital health intervention. Leading patient involvement activities. Collecting and analysing data using quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including wearable technology data, questionnaires and interviews. Disseminating findings through peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, and educational materials. Further information is available in the role description. The role is fixed term for 2 years. ABOUT THE TEAM This cutting-edge research project is based in the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation and led by Dr Emily Hume, Assistant Professor in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation. She is joined by an expert team of co-investigators: Professor Ioannis Vogiatzis - Professor of Rehabilitation Sciences, and Professor Stephen Clark - Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The project is rooted within the department's Management of Long-Term Conditions research group and will be delivered in close collaboration with clinical partners from Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Together, this interdisciplinary team is uniquely positioned to drive forward impactful research at the intersection of exercise science and rehabilitation. ABOUT YOU We are looking for passionate and driven individuals with a PhD (or nearing completion) and specialist expertise in clinical exercise physiology, physical activity, digital health, behaviour change, or rehabilitation sciences. Candidates with a postgraduate degree and equivalent experience will also be considered.
