Position Summary
The Accounting Associate is responsible for maintaining all accounting records and producing timely reports, analysis, and statements in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Post entries accurately and completely to the general ledger; verify and balance general ledger accounts.
2. Process accounts payable transactions, including the preparation of batch payments.
3. Manage accounts receivable transactions, including adjustments and corrections.
4. Support weekly hourly payroll processing.
5. Assist in month-end closing procedures for the plant's financial statements.
6. Maintain accounting and payroll files and backup documentation per PCA’s record-keeping policies.
7. Provide administrative support, including electronic and physical filing, copying, and correspondence.
8. Respond to corporate requests and cyclical filings as directed by the Controller, maintaining a follow-up system for timely submissions.
Basic Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. At least 1 year of experience in a business office or accounting role, with exposure to general ledger, payroll, and accounts payable.
3. Solid understanding of accounting procedures.
4. Proficiency in computer systems, especially Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate's degree or college coursework in accounting.
2. Experience in manufacturing, containerboard, or corrugated packaging industries.
3. Experience with accounting software handling accounts payable and general ledger.

2. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple requests.
3. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

6. Flexibility to work overtime or flexible hours as needed.
7. Experience working in a team environment and effective communication skills.
