Chef Manager Term-Time Catering Operation Salary: £36,500 per year
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 7:00am 4:30pm (45 hours per week)
Working Weeks: 42 weeks per year (term time, inset days + 3 additional weeks)
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef Manager to lead a high-quality catering service. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about fresh food, team development, and delivering an outstanding dining experience.
You will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistent food quality, smooth service delivery, and full compliance with food safety regulations. The Chef Manager will be responsible for menu planning, ordering, budgeting, and staff leadership.
You will also be responsible for managing a team of 1 Catering Supervisor and 6 General Assistants, ensuring they are supported, trained, and motivated to deliver an excellent service.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a catering team (1 Catering Supervisor + 6 General Assistants).
Deliver high-quality, nutritious meals in line with standards and expectations.
Plan seasonal menus, manage budgets, and control stock effectively.
Oversee food preparation, service, and presentation.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and allergen regulations.
Deliver training, support, and performance management for the team.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, school staff, and stakeholders.
About You Previous experience as a Chef Manager or Senior Chef in a similar setting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
Passionate about fresh food and excellent customer service.
Knowledge of HACCP, allergens, and food safety legislation.
Confident managing budgets, planning menus, and working independently.
