In addition, there are several residential and commercial investment properties, along with some interests in land, as well as other properties held for various functional purposes by either a parish, a diocesan body, or the Archdiocese itself. About the role: The Archdiocese is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced RICS Chartered General Practice Surveyor to join its Property Team. The key role of the Property Team is to provide advice and guidance for management of parish property, the school estate as well as manage all property held centrally by the Archdiocese. Reporting to the Archdiocese’s Head of Property, you will play a key part in the delivery of the Team’s objectives whilst promoting and supporting the diocesan vision and delivering the diocesan strategy. Responsibilities: Ensure that all property matters are dealt with in accordance with the general secular law of England & Wales, the Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church, and diocesan internal procedures for approvals and consents. Liaise with and support archdiocesan stakeholders, including the Diocesan Education Service on issues such as title and boundary matters. Provide advice and guidance to parishes on the management of their functional and investment properties. Assist in the management of investment properties held centrally by the Archdiocese. Deal with sales, purchases, tenancies, licences, and other occupational interests particularly those matters that come within the ‘disposal’ provisions of the Charities Act 2011. Rating and Council Tax matters, particularly exemptions and relief applicable to church and charity properties. Support the Head of Property in implementing all property related policies and tasks set by the Trustees of the Archdiocese. Appoint and manage external consultants and professionals such as building surveyors, estate agents, and solicitors. Such other duties that may from time to time be delegated by the Head of Property in the interests of the work of the property team and is commensurate with the post.
