Mitie in the North of Scotland are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support the Billable Works Team for the FDIS Contract on the Ministry of Defense (MoD) Estate.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager the Quantity Surveyor will support Project Managers, with Commercial, Financial & Contract related matters.
The role will be based out of RAF Lossiemouth covering the North of Scotland.
Candidate must be able to obtain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) prior to employment & Security Clearance (SC) following employment.
The primary responsibilities include managing the entire process of billable works, from initiation to completion. This encompasses ensuring adherence to the contract's Early Warning Notice (EWN) process and guaranteeing that all billable works are accurately invoiced and accounted for in the final statement.
Additionally, the role involves providing essential support to both the Senior Project Manager and Project Managers. This includes the preparation of Rough Order of Costs (ROC) or Pre Tender Estimates (PTE) by utilizing historical data or pricing books. The duties extend to issuing tender packages to approved members of the supply chain, followed by a thorough review and evaluation of the tender submissions received.
A critical aspect of the role is the composition of detailed reports that outline the costs incurred and the progress made, which are then presented to management. Prior to the commencement of works, it is also necessary to place NEC3 subcontracts. Furthermore, the role requires the submission of billable works to assist local site teams and the execution of commercial assurance checks to ensure all financial aspects are in order.
We are in search of a candidate who is at the very least undergoing training to become a Quantity Surveyor. It would be beneficial if the applicant has some commercial experience in the construction sector or a related field, with skills in cost development, risk assessment, tender preparation, and dispute resolution.
A good grasp of contract management, particularly in construction and refurbishment processes, as well as familiarity with Facilities Management (FM) models, will be considered an advantage. The ideal candidate should possess excellent report preparation and presentation skills, and be capable of working effectively with demanding clients and customers.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word, is expected. The candidate should be well-organized, highly numerate, and have exceptional attention to detail.
