ABOUT THE TEAM
Garden, Festive and Home Improvement is a fast-paced category responsible for a broad range of products from Christmas Trees to Garden Furniture, from Sheds and Drills to Pet Beds. We work across a varied supplier base incorporating both Brand and Own Brand sources. We work with some of the biggest and most exciting brands across the market to deliver the best product ranges for our customers. We also work with internal design and wider category teams to curate an enticing Own Brand offer.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Buyer who will report directly into the Buyer for the area. In the role you will have the opportunity to build key relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the development of the departmental strategy and build partnerships with market leading brands as well as colleagues in our Global Hubs. A unique role where you have the opportunity to build forward thinking, on trend ranges mixed with the latest product innovation across the market. In the role you will focus on the following areas;
·Range development – with ownership of multiple product categories you will work closely with brands and own brand to develop commercial ranges suited to our customers.
·Day to day management of range plans, managing product set up, presenting ranges in newness meetings.
·Product development- working across Home to source, brief and develop curated product ranges in our Very handwriting.
·Develop and manage promotional plans with key brands as part of the trading calendar.
·Executional Brilliance- managing onsite customer journey, updating links, managing product pages and imagery updates.
·Reviewing and reporting on pricing recommendations alongside the buyer.
·Support the Buyer on new supplier onboarding.
·Working closely with internal merchandising functions you will be responsible for day to day trading of your product areas and be able to communicate risks, opportunities and actions.
·Understanding of the complex department critical path, supply base and trading calendar.
·Sample management, chasing samples ahead of sign offs/product days and BAU requests.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for a candidate who already has experience at this level or someone who has transferable skills in a relevant profession and can demonstrate a proven understanding and passion for buying. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of the following;
·You will have experience of working on a Home or DIY category and be passionate about Home and Interiors products and trends.
·You will have experience in buying and be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to build commercial ranges.
·You will be highly organised with great communication skills.
·You know how to analyse performance and apply lessons learnt to future range building.
·You can pre-empt potential challenges that may impact team or trading and take steps to minimise them before they arise.
·You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
·Able to deputise for the Buyer in key meetings.
