Design Engineer – Candidate Profile Summary (Automotive Industry)
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with proven experience within the automotive industry, ideally working on lighting or electro‑mechanical components. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing full product lifecycles, from concept development through to production, with strong design-for-manufacturing capability and excellent CAD proficiency.
Core Technical Requirements
* Proficient in Creo/Pro‑E for 3D modelling, surfacing, and engineering drawings.
* Windchill experience (or similar PLM system) for document control, BOM management, and versioning.
* Strong SolidWorks (SW) proficiency for modelling, assemblies, technical drawings, and prototyping support.
* Engineering degree (BEng/MEng) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
* Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience, ideally for automotive components or assemblies.
* Automotive industry experience is essential — preferably with exposure to lighting systems, vehicle components, or safety-related hardware.
Experience & Capabilities
* Strong background in product design within the automotive sector.
* Experience creating design specifications, testing procedures, and prototype builds.
* Ability to manage and deliver projects independently with minimal supervision.
* Understanding of mechanical and electrical testing principles, validation, and compliance standards (e.g., CE/UKCA beneficial).
* Comfortable liaising with suppliers, test facilities, project managers, and other engineering teams.
