This role is for a 2-year training post with Inclusion within HMP Bullingdon. You will work with service users and multi-agency team members to support recovery outcomes by promoting visible recovery, harm reduction, and brief interventions.
The training role is suited for someone with lived experience of substance misuse and the judicial system who wishes to gain experience in this field. After successful completion of the 2-year training, there is an opportunity to progress to a Band 5 Recovery Worker position.
You will provide psychosocial substance misuse interventions, work closely with healthcare providers to deliver clinical services, complete assessments, facilitate group work, and establish relationships with community services to ensure continuity of care upon release.
Individuals with lived experience of substance misuse and recovery are valued for their unique perspective and insight, demonstrating through their knowledge and experience that change is possible. Our goal is to provide hope, motivation, and support for men in recovery at HMP Bullingdon and to facilitate drug and alcohol-free lives upon release.
Research shows that lived experience can significantly improve recovery outcomes. Your firsthand understanding of substance misuse effects on individuals and communities is an invaluable asset.
Benefits of the role include:
1. Making a meaningful impact through your unique perspective.
2. Receiving comprehensive training and resources.
3. Joining a supportive team of dedicated professionals.
4. Engaging in training to support role development.
5. Shadowing team members to facilitate learning.
6. Empowering service users to develop their networks and recovery capital.
7. Attending training across various subjects for development.
8. Providing pro-social modeling and hope for patients in recovery.
9. Working closely with the Discharge/Patient Engagement Team.
10. Delivering low-level interventions, including assessments and harm minimization advice.
11. Co-facilitating drug awareness and mutual aid groups (AA and NA).
