Fire Safety Design Engineer
We are seeking a Fire Safety Design Engineer to join an expanding Fire Safety Division and play a key role in delivering high-quality fire engineering design and project coordination services. This could be a flexible role, available on a full-time, part-time or job-share basis, with predominantly remote working across the UK. We are open to discussing arrangements that suit experienced professionals, including those seeking reduced or flexible hours.

The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to carve out your own niche within a growing specialist team. You will work across all RIBA stages, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects including education, residential (including high-rise), commercial, retail, industrial and social housing developments.
Working closely with our Fire Safety, PD/BR and PD/CDM specialists, you will provide fire engineering design input, technical advice and coordination support to both clients and internal teams. The role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys autonomy, values high standards and wants to help shape best practice within a respected consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce and peer-review Fire Strategy reports and supporting technical documentation
* Provide fire engineering design input across all RIBA stages
* Advise clients and project teams on compliance with UK fire safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act
* Support Building Regulations compliance, including Approved Document B
* Contribute to design team and client meetings
* Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions
* Undertake site visits, surveys, compliance checks and post-construction reporting
* Provide contractor support during construction phases
* Offer practical, risk-based fire safety advice tailored to each project
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
You will ideally have experience in a fire consultancy or multidisciplinary environment and be confident working across a range of building types. Experience in some or all of the following is desirable:
* Fire strategy development and technical reporting
* High-rise residential fire safety design
* Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order
* Understanding of the Building Safety Act and duty holder responsibilities
* Familiarity with BS 9991, BS 9999 and other relevant British Standards
* Exposure to CFD and/or CEM modelling
* Ability to review and interpret complex technical information
