SEND Learning Support Assistant - Home-Based 1:1 Support

Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised 1:1 support for a young learner in a home-based setting.
The pupil has Autism, a Visual Impairment, and English as an additional language. Having been out of formal education for a period of time, they require a patient and supportive individual who can help them re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for a future transition into a specialist SEND school environment.
This role focuses on creating a positive and trusting relationship, encouraging communication, independence, and engagement through carefully adapted learning and life-skills activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Delivering 1:1 support within the pupil's home during morning sessions
* Supporting early English language acquisition, including speaking, listening, vocabulary development and simple literacy activities
* Promoting life skills, independence and everyday communication
* Helping establish positive routines and increasing readiness for future school placement
* Tailoring activities to meet the needs of a learner with Autism and Visual Impairment
* Providing consistent encouragement in a calm, nurturing and structured manner
* Maintaining communication with Quantum Scholars and other professionals involved in the pupil's support
About You
We would like to hear from candidates who have:
* Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
* A good understanding of Autism and strategies that support communication, engagement and emotional wellbeing
* Knowledge or experience of supporting learners with Visual Impairment (desirable but not essential)
* Confidence supporting learners with English as an Additional Language (EAL) or basic ESOL development
* A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach
* The ability to work independently within a home-based learning environment
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people
