Location: Dartford, Kent
Start Date: November 3rd
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Pay: £101.40 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Are you a Psychology graduate or aspiring Clinical Psychologist looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs?
This is an incredible opportunity to work as a Learning Support Assistant in one of our inclusive schools in Dartford, supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and PDA profiles.
You’ll play a vital role in helping children reach their full potential while gaining valuable experience in education, therapy, and child development — ideal for those looking to progress into psychology, SEN teaching, or mental health careers.
Your Key Responsibilities:
 1. Provide personalised 1:1 and small group support for pupils with diverse learning needs.
 2. Adapt approaches to meet the individual needs of each child — from non-verbal and sensory learners to academically able pupils who may mask their challenges.
 3. Use relational, trauma-informed practices to promote safety, trust, and emotional regulation.
 4. Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
 5. Encourage communication, social interaction, and independence using visual aids and structured play.
 6. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and outside professionals to ensure holistic care.
 7. Record daily observations and progress to inform planning and parental feedback.
 8. Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive classroom that celebrates neurodiversity.
What We’re Looking For:
 9. A degree in Psychology or a related subject (preferred but not essential).
 10. Previous experience or volunteering with children or young people with SEN, Autism, SEMH, or trauma backgrounds is highly desirable.
 11. A genuine passion for supporting neurodivergent learners and promoting positive change.
 12. Strong communication, empathy, and patience, with a calm, reflective approach.
 13. A proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
 14. A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
