Offer description

Research the relationships between ticks, oak trees, spongy moth defoliation, and Lyme disease. Location is the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York’s Hudson River Valley.


Job Description:

Duties include sampling abundance of ticks, creating soil core tick enclosures, monitoring tick survival within the enclosures, small mammal care, wildlife camera deployment, and tree seed collection within eastern deciduous forest plots. Early morning and late afternoon hours and occasional weekend hours are required.


Qualifications:

Meticulous attention to detail and experience in field ecology is required. Experience working with small mammals is a plus.

Employment can begin April 21, 2025, with an end date of approximately July 31, 2025. Position reports to Dr. Richard S. Ostfeld and Dr. Shannon LaDeau and is full time, 35 hours/week. This is an hourly, non-exempt, non-benefited position paying $20/hr. The final candidate will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment driving background check successfully. On-site housing is available.
