Join to apply for the Civil Engineer role at Mott MacDonald Bentley | MMB. Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business delivering major water and wastewater schemes across all project phases. The framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water will last up to eight years, covering clean and wastewater treatment sites, below-ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions. The organisation employs over 270 colleagues in Wales and operates across the UK water market, providing feasibility, design, construction and commissioning services to keep water flowing and wastewater treated.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the civil functions throughout project lifecycles, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring civil aspects are integrated and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
* Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with knowledge of client and industry standards.
* Challenging Client specifications and presenting/defending solutions to complex problems.
* Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
* Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews across teams.
* Managing interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and producing documentation.
* Seeking input from engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Collaborating with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
* Supervising and mentoring Graduates and Engineers to develop their knowledge and skills.
* Engaging with the client to manage relationships and support collaborative delivery of aims.
* Conducting site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
What you’ll need
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Working towards Chartered/Incorporated status or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
* Experience delivering high-quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards.
* Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical problem-solving approach and proactive, pragmatic mindset.
* Ability to deliver results within short timeframes and manage time efficiently.
* Valid driving license and willingness to travel to sites.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald, but will involve working across the joint venture with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
