Working Hours
Onsite 5/5 Monday – Friday. Core business hours 7:30am‑5:30pm. Flexible start and finish times available. 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
Role Description
* Conduct technical assessments of waste management operations to ensure compliance with environmental and industry regulations.
* Qualification and classification of chemicals, reporting and analysis of waste streams to determine what can be treated onsite and what needs transferring to other sites.
* Identify and assign cost‑effective treatment and processing routes.
* Evaluate applications for permits, accreditations, or certifications related to waste processing, recycling, and disposal.
* Provide expert advice on waste classification, handling, treatment, and disposal methods.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal teams to ensure consistent interpretation of waste legislation and best practices.
* Analysis of information to determine waste transportation methods (ADR/IMDG regs).
* Work alongside DGSA’s, management, sales and chemists to facilitate smooth running of inbound and outbound waste streams.
* Provide technical advice, support and guidance internally and externally.
Requirements
* Minimum HNC or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or a scientific degree with significant chemistry content.
* Recent experience as a technical assessor or site chemist in the waste industry.
* Preferred: DGSA, IOSH and IMDG certification.
* Knowledge and understanding of ADR, WM3 and other waste regulations.
