Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, conscientious dentist with strong interpersonal and clinical skills to join our Community Dental Service in Bury. This part‑time position (22.5 hours per week) will work with a multidisciplinary team and nursing support, delivering a high standard of oral health care across Greater Manchester. The role requires flexibility to work at other clinical sites as service needs dictate.
Responsibilities
* Provide primary dental care for priority groups, including children, adults with disabilities and elderly patients.
* Deliver treatment for patients requiring inhalation sedation, intravenous sedation, or general anaesthesia.
* Offer domiciliary dental care for housebound patients.
* Maintain accurate patient records, complete FP17 forms, and manage patient charges.
* Support the Head of Dental Services with health and safety, risk management, and departmental policy development.
* Participate in audit, peer review and other quality improvement activities.
* Perform any additional duties within the framework of the post.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent.
* Full registration with the General Dental Council.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Postgraduate qualification.
* Certificate or diploma in conscious sedation.
* Experience in community dental services or similar settings.
* Experience in general anaesthesia, domiciliary care, or inhalation/IV sedation.
* Participation in epidemiological fieldwork.
Skills & Knowledge
* Proficient in routine dental care for children and adults.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong organisational and workload management abilities.
* Basic IT skills and familiarity with electronic dental patient record systems.
* Knowledge of FP17s, treatment banding, and patient charges.
* Ability to work as part of a large, multidisciplinary team.

Contract and Working Pattern

Salary: £52,532 to £78,798 per annum.
