The client is a leading national transport and logistics organisation, due to growth and business change, they are looking to recruit a depot / operations manager for their site in the Ashford Kent area. An excellent basic salary of £65K-£75K is on offer plus company car, personal fuel card, health care, pension contribution and a bonus.
Responsibilities
Your role will be to manage and deliver a profitable and efficient depot operation by:
* Overseeing daily aspects of depot activities, including Operations, Health & Safety, Warehousing and Continuous Improvement
* Supervising a small in-house team to optimise delivery routes and schedules
* Managing and overseeing logistics processes including freight forwarding, planning, shipping, receiving
* Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards across the depot / office
Requirements
* Proven leadership experience in depot / site management, ideally with an understanding of basic routing & scheduling, international freight forwarding and customs procedures
* Experience in managing a depot / warehouse and familiarity with general haulage, 3PL, freight forwarding, retail logistics or similar sectors
* Good communication, leadership and organisational skills
* Desirable but certainly not essential: A CPC and / or related qualifications, such as IOSH etc, and any commercial / business development experience
