Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated pharmacist to join the medication safety team. A 1-year part-time opportunity is available to deputise for the Trust Medicines Safety Officer (MSO) and develop your teaching skills.
This will provide opportunities to direct and implement trust-wide change to improve medicines safety. Working closely with the Consultant Pharmacist for Medicines Safety, you will develop your leadership skills and put them into practice. Chairing the Trust Medicines safety group and attending the Drugs Committee will require an organised and methodical approach.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
As deputy MSO, you will focus on improving reporting and learning in medicines safety, especially in prescribing. You will provide feedback to prescribers, support reflection, and identify strategies to enhance medication safety.
As chair of the medicines safety group, you will lead discussions on safety topics, ensuring all voices are heard and consensus is reached. You will also participate in regional and national medicines safety networks.
You will manage and support prescribing training for the University of Southampton Medical School, planning educational sessions and applying your knowledge of prescribing errors into the curriculum.
You should be willing to learn, curious about healthcare systems, and comfortable having challenging conversations with staff and patients.
The role offers flexible hours with a mix of on-site and remote work options.
Person specification
Qualifications / Training Required
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Registration with the GPHC.
* Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experiential learning.
* Evidence of a minimum of 2 advanced pharmacy framework competencies at Mastery with remaining competencies at advanced level 2.
Desirable criteria
* MSC in clinical pharmacy
* Masters in Research
* RPS Member
* Foundation management training
* Independent Pharmacist prescribing qualification
* Faculty assessment as fellow or advanced stage 2
* Training in data analytics or healthcare data management
Previous or relevant experience necessary
* Experience of providing highly complex pharmaceutical care.
