The Opportunity
A leading engineering organisation is looking to add an experienced Principal Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to its Warrington team on a long-term contract.
This is a senior position offering the chance to take technical ownership across multiple projects, providing leadership and direction to deliver innovative, safe, and compliant engineering solutions.
You'll be responsible for shaping design strategies, guiding a team of engineers, and ensuring that all project outputs meet the highest technical and safety standards.
Role Responsibilities
Lead EC&I design and engineering activities across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Oversee production, review, and approval of key technical deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and design documentation.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams, ensuring consistent application of best practice.
Maintain strong focus on engineering governance, regulatory compliance, and safety assurance.
Manage resources effectively to meet project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and verification activities.
Act as Engineering Lead or Technical Authority where required.
Engage with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure clear communication and alignment across all stages of delivery.
Support bids, tenders, and business development by providing technical input where appropriate.
About You
You'll be a confident engineering professional with a proven background in EC&I design and delivery within complex or regulated environments.
Essential Requirements:
Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working toward chartership.
Strong technical leadership experience within EC&I engineering.
Solid understanding of project delivery from concept design through to implementation.
Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
Member of a recognised engineering institution.
Previous experience working within nuclear, defence, or other safety-critical industries.
Familiarity with full project lifecycles including design, procurement, and construction.
