We have a fantastic opportunity for an Activity Coordinator to join our team at Bradgate Mental Health Unit, within the directorate of Adult Mental Health. We have roles available within Inpatients, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Mental Health Services for Older People.
As an Inpatient Activity Coordinator, you will be based on the ward delivering and facilitating 1:1 and group activities that will meet a range of needs for our inpatients including physical, mental and social wellbeing. You will also work closely with the multi-disciplinary team such as Medical, Nursing, Therapy and Psychology staff as well as the Wellbeing and Engagement Officers.
Our Mental Health Services provide voluntary and in-voluntary short-term in-patient management and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness, until the person has recovered enough to be treated effectively and safely in the community.
Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder, where some individuals present with acute distress and maybe an absconding, suicide, or self-harm risk.
Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) is our female functioning, currently 23-bed ward.

Main duties of the job
You will also work closely with the multi-disciplinary team such as Medical, Nursing, Therapy and Psychology staff as well as the Wellbeing and Engagement Officers delivering and facilitating a range of 1:1 and group activities over a 7-day working pattern that will include evenings and weekend. These activities will meet a range of needs including physical, mental and social well-being.
You will facilitate physical health and wellbeing activities including supporting patients to use the gym where required, when appropriately qualified as a level 2 gym instructor.
To guide and support other ward staff to provide activities on the ward when the Activity Coordinator is not on the ward and be flexible, facilitating activities on other wards across the site when needed.
Other duties will include promoting, co-ordinating & evidencing the cultural and awareness days, securing new monies to support the purchase of equipment for the activities and co-facilitating patient consultations groups community meetings.
Please note Driving Licence is essential for this role as you will be required to drive the Trust unit vehicles.
