About The Role

Trebuchet MS with Updated Inkey Blue

* At the Guide Dogs we believe in the life-changing power of guide dogs. We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Dog Wellbeing Technician to play a key role in ensuring our dogs receive the specialist care they need while they prepare to support people with sight loss in leading confident, independent lives.

In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day care of a group of dogs at our site, ensuring their health and wellbeing needs are met to the highest standards. From managing routine husbandry to monitoring behavioural development, your work will directly support our dogs as they progress through their training journey. You'll work in line with national wellbeing procedures, deliver specialist healthcare support, and ensure any concerns are identified and acted upon swiftly.

Your role will also involve working closely with volunteers and colleagues, offering guidance, technical input, and mentorship to help them succeed in their roles. You'll support dog fostering and wellbeing volunteers, deliver training and education on routine canine healthcare, and communicate important updates to internal and external stakeholders, including guide dog owners. Whether you're interpreting health data to identify local trends, transporting dogs for appointments, or helping a volunteer feel confident in their role, every day will be varied and full of purpose.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about animal care, confident working with dogs of all temperaments, and capable of supporting both people and animals with empathy and expertise. You'll need to be observant, organised, and proactive, with great communication skills and a strong commitment to animal welfare.

No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.

This role will be based on site at our Leamington office, working closely with a team of Wellbeing Technicians. You'll be working 35 hours per week on a rota basis covering Monday to Sunday. Shifts will be between the hours of 7am and 9pm.
