Mploy Group is working exclusively with a leading engineering company in Liverpool to source a skilled Manual Turner for a key role within their specialist Pump Shaft Cell. This position offers the opportunity to work in a clean, modern environment, focusing on the precision machining of complex shafts for high-integrity industries.
Working on high-grade materials including stainless and exotic alloys, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing components up to 4 metres in length using manual centre lathes. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and thrives in a low-volume, high-precision setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Manual turning of shafts from raw bar or forging using centre lathes
*
Working to tight tolerances from detailed engineering drawings
*
Using steadies to support long components throughout the machining process
*
Roughing and finish-turning of high-value, multi-stage components
*
Working with a range of steels and alloy materials, including exotic grades
*
Contributing to a high-quality environment compliant with ISO 9001:2015
*
Collaborating with colleagues to ensure production targets and standards are met
Essential Skills & Experience:
*
NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
*
Skilled in manual turning of shafts up to 4m in length
*
Confident using steadies for long part support
*
Proven experience machining super duplex, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and similar materials
*
Able to read and interpret detailed technical drawings
*
Familiarity with quality standards and documentation (ISO 9001:2015)
Desirable (Not Required):
*
Background in pump or valve component production
*
Experience working in subcontract or jobbing environments
*
Previous involvement in sectors such as nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or power generation
*
Understanding of ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
