An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, forward-thinking team in a 9-month fixed-term role covering maternity leave on Ward 23 and the Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU). Ward 23 is a unique Cardiology inpatient ward with 19 beds, caring for patients following acute cardiac events and those undergoing continued investigation and treatment. We also have four side rooms offering private cardiac care. As part of this role, you’ll also have the opportunity to rotate into the Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU) – a day-case elective unit managing up to 16 patients pre- and post-procedures, including angiograms, pacemaker insertions, and cardiac ablations. No two days are the same, and you’ll benefit from strong links with the wider cardiology services, including specialist nurses and the research team. We are seeking dynamic, motivated, and compassionate nurses with a genuine interest in cardiology. You’ll be committed to delivering the highest standards of patient-centred care and keen to develop your clinical skills in a supportive and progressive environment. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria NMC Registered Nurse Desirable criteria Diploma/Degree in relevant subjects. Preceptorship and/or Mentor course. Experience Essential criteria Demonstrable clinical experience Demonstrate Cardiology experience. Technical Skills Competencies Essential criteria Problem solving skills Planning and prioritisation skills Non IV and IV medication administration Experience in complying with nursing, infection control and risk management polices Knowledge Essential criteria Ability to demonstrate fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills Knowledge of conditions relevant to Cardiology Other requirements specific to the role Essential criteria Adaptive to unpredictable workloads Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions Personal Attributes Essential criteria Highly motivated Flexible approach to the needs of the service Ability to demonstrate compassion Ability to recognise stress in self and manages it appropriately Language requirement Essential criteria Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
