Business Development Manager – Energy & Sustainability Services
Location: UK (Remote with occasional team meet-ups)
Salary: Basic DOE (£40,000 - £60,000) + Commission 10%
About the Opportunity
A rapidly scaling consultancy in the energy, utilities and sustainability sector is expanding its commercial team. The business has grown significantly in recent years, driven by strong leadership, transparent service delivery, and an increasingly sophisticated offering spanning energy procurement, compliance, engineering-led solutions, sustainability strategy, carbon reduction, water efficiency, and advanced analytics.
Core Responsibilities
* Making proactive outbound calls to senior contacts to promote a suite of energy, sustainability, and water-related services.
* Scheduling high-quality meetings for specialist consultants and supporting full 360° sales activity.
* Developing a deep understanding of the company’s service offering, including:
* Energy procurement & trading
* Compliance frameworks (e.g., ESOS, SECR)
* Net Zero planning and carbon strategy
* Engineering-led audits and performance improvement
* Water efficiency and commercial water analysis
* Data validation, forecasting and CRM-driven insights
* Working closely with analysts, operations, procurement and sustainability teams.
* Participating in networking and industry events, contributing to strategy and ongoing commercial development.
* Maintaining high engagement levels throughout the sales cycle, from first conversation to close.
* Adhering to internal quality processes and supporting continuous improvement through training and collaboration.
Experience
* Strong background in sales, business development, or appointment setting.
* Experience in utilities, energy services, sustainability, engineering environments, or related consultancy fields (preferred).
* Understanding of data validation, energy billing, forecasting, procurement processes or compliance frameworks is beneficial.
* Comfortable selling technical, multi-service solutions rather than single-product offerings.
