Haven Health and Howard House surgery in Felixstowe have multi-disciplinary teams who are serious abouthealthcare and achieving the best for all their patients but who like to workin a supportive and fun atmosphere. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiasticand flexible Practice Paramedic to work in the community treating both Haven Health and Howard House patients.
Suitable candidatesmust be able to work flexibly, autonomously and proactively in the community supporting both our housebound and care home patients
The vacancy is for approx. 15 hrs a week; however, flexibility is crucial to accommodate training,holidays and occasional sickness.
Within easy accessof Ipswich, (20 minutes). We have established teams witha strong focus on customer service and communication. We would love to hearfrom candidates with GP surgery experience.
Main duties of the job
The main duties will be treating both housebound and care home patients across 2 surgeries. Leading on the various vaccination campaigns. Completing referrals where applicable. Working closely with GP's and debriefing following visits.
Ideally the candidate would be a prescriber and be able to take a lead within a team of 3 other practice paramedics

Job responsibilities
To provide a high-quality, cost-effective service to the patientsof Haven Health and Howard House GP surgeries; diagnosing and prescribingtreatments and medication while working within defined procedures and protocolsas laid down by the GPs.
To work as part of a clinical team, with GPs, Advanced NursePractitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants across both practices.Working alongside non-clinical team members
To be responsible for seeing patients across multiple practicesites, care homes and for visitingpatients in their place of residence, who present with a wide range of minorillness, urgent and same day requests for treatment and chronic diseasemanagement; providing care for the presenting patient from initial historytaking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.
The post holder will need to demonstrate safe, clinicaldecision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills.There will be the need to prioritise and triage the needs of patientsaccordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in theappropriate manner.
KeyResponsibilities
Ensure all medical notes are written contemporaneouslyand succinctly
Induct and arrange training for existing teammembers and new employees.
Arrange flu and immunisations for all care homeand housebound patients.
Provideassessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending topatients according to their needs either in the practice sites or patientshomes. Act as an autonomous clinician, with the support and guidance from theGPs
Proactivelyidentify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk ofdeveloping a long-term condition (as appropriate).
Diagnoseand manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug andnon-drug based treatment methods into a management plan.
Accuratelytriage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations,demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of anevent/illness, including past medical and drug history.
Recognise,assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs
Telephonetriage as appropriate for clinics and home visits and care home ward rounds andprovide access to GPs as necessary.
Evaluateclinical information from examination and history taking and initiateappropriate treatment and / or referral, including admission to hospital ifrequired.
Signpostappropriately to other services in the identified healthcare pathway and torefer patients to appropriate care settings, within locally agreed healthcarepathways.
Maintainaccurate and systematic documentation of patient interactions and clinical careprovided, including adverse events.
Advise andsupport members of the public on healthy lifestyles, health promotion anddisease prevention.
Provideclinical advice to other members of the team where appropriate.
Work in theclinic setting using AskmyGP as required
Any otherduties within the scope of the post holder as requested by the management team.
