Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Longdon Hall School – Staffordshire, WS15 4PT
Salary: Up to £53,200 (FTE) – basic £33,000+, specialist £39,500+, highly specialist £48,000+
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 – 04:30
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks (term‑time flexibility possible)
Essential requirement: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
* Use the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice within an education setting.
* Manage a Speech and Language Therapy caseload and receive support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training, consultation and multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Promote a person‑centred, safeguarding‑led approach for all pupils.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered.
* Experience engaging with individuals presenting complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multidisciplinary work across settings.
* Experience communicating with families and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills across different SaLT practice areas.
* Good relationship building, analytical, judgmental, communication, time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core SaLT areas and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention planning.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its clinical implications.
* Collaborative working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to pursue further qualifications and attend training.
* Valid driving licence and car access.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of sensory, motor and other differences impacting communication.
* Evidence of linking arousal levels to communication.
