Technical Director - East Grinstead (On-site full time)

My client is a long-established niche global market leader with a reputation for developing innovative sensing and testing instrumentation.
Role:
Reporting to the MD, this person will be responsible for building and leading a high calibre multi-disciplinary team (currently 10 people) with a focus on driving new product development. The role will suit someone with a previous track record of technical leadership and new product development within instrumentation or industrial engineering and who is looking for the opportunity for real autonomy around new product innovation.
Key responsibilities:
Responsibility for driving forward new product innovation and development
Lead R&D, with hands-on involvement at prototype stages
Implement a New Product Development (NPD) process to ensure a pipeline of activity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, marketing, sales, operations, supply chain and production to drive product development from concept to launch
Advocate a culture of continuous improvement
Engage with customers and be led by their requirements.
Key requirements:
Relevant degree/masters/PhD eg; mechanical engineering or equivalent
Prior technical leadership experience
Background in instrumentation, complex engineering or industrial products
Experience of leading and delivering NPD initiatives
Right to live and work in the UK.
Benefits:
£70-80,000 (depending on experience)
