Job Description

Our client manufacture machinery for the treatment and disposal of food waste, they are now looking to recruit a Moble Maintenance Engineer.\n\nHome based and reporting to tje Engineering Manager Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will:be:responsible for the planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of waste disposal and recycling machinery, ensuring maximum operational efficiency, minimal downtime, and compliance with health and safety standards.\n\nKey Responsibilitie\n\nMaintenance & Repairs\n\n * \n\n Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all waste disposal and recycling equipment, including conveyors, shredders, compactors, balers, and sorting systems.\n\n * \n\n Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.\n\n * \n\n Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements as required.\n\n * \n\n Equipment & Systems\n\n * \n\n Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.\n\n * \n\n Ensure equipment is calibrated, tested, and operating to manufacturer specifications.\n\n * \n\n Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset management systems.\n\n * \n\n Continuous Improvement\n\n * \n\n * \n\n Support process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.\n\n * \n\n Provide technical input into equipment upgrades and replacement projects.\n\n * \n\n Assist in training operators on correct use and basic maintenance of machinery.\n\n * \n\n Skills & Experience\n\nEssential:\n\n * \n\n Proven experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, ideally within waste management, recycling, or heavy industrial environments.\n\n * \n\n Competence in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical faults.\n\n * \n\n Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.\n\n * \n\n Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.\n\n * \n\n Understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.\n\nDesirable:\n\n * \n\n Electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering).\n\n * \n\n Welding and fabrication experience.\n\n * \n\n Experience with PLC-controlled systems.\n\nQualifications:\n\n * \n\n NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.\n\n * \n\n Health & Safety training (e.g., IOSH, SPA Passport) preferred.\n\nIn return our client offer excellent salary and benefits packages
