The role
Working as a senior DevOps engineer, you will work with BG Developers, Testers and the Environments team as well as other MU teams in a collaborative approach to provide technical expertise on applications and infrastructure primarily hosted on Azure platforms utilising ARM.
As a leading technical SME, the main focal point should be on devops automation and forward devops and cloud strategy.
Knowledge of other platforms such as AWS and GCP as well as terraform would be useful for our strategic target model. You will drive higher service performance and availability whilst at the same time exercising good cost control on our devops and azure platforms. Focus on Automation, removing/eliminate manual effort and technical debt.
You will manage CI/CD pipelines across various Non-Production and Production environments and ensure end-to-end consistent/repeatable process.
You’ll help us make this happen by
1. Focus effectively and with strong prior devops hands-on skills and knowledge to understand the work undertaken and more importantly drive the future work to manage applications and infrastructure hosted on Bupa’s Azure platforms
2. Drive forward the devops strategy by introducing new features/ways of working with a collaborative approach across teams
3. Work through our devops target roadmap and continue to manage our end-to-end automation process
4. Manage current/introduce new/relevant tools, technologies and processes for CI/CD framework, source control management, build automation tools and code testing framework (with knowledge on Docker and terraform for future state)
5. Provide support services to deliver the required system availability, reliability and performance necessary to underpin business operations.
6. You will possess good oral and written communication skills so that you can effectively communicate with all our stakeholders and various teams in a timely coherent manner and be able to work independently
7. Work in collaboration with 3rd party software vendors to ensure services meet or exceed their contract obligations.
8. Comply with the internal service protocols/policies so that optimum level of security is embedded in all parts of the devops work undertaken.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role
9. Strong hands-on experience of working with DevOps or in a similar multi skilled team in a technically demanding function.
10. Fully adept with scripting languages specifically strong PowerShell (mandatory), ARM (mandatory), combined with C#, .NET (mandatory) and ASP.NET (would also be useful have knowledge about Terraform for target state)
11. Good technical knowledge/usage of Azure platform (would be useful have knowledge about AWS, Kubernetes, GCP, docker)
12. Databases eg. Oracle, SQL-Server, Cosmos
13. Good understanding of networking eg. WAF/Azure front-door web application firewall, proxy etc
14. Any content Management System, preferably Sitecore and business software eg. Dynamic CRM and Power BI/other analytics tools
