CNC Turner – Night Shift
Location: Near Wawrick
Shifts: Monday–Thursday, 9:15pm–7:00am (4 nights, 36.5 hrs/week)
Salary: £42,400–£43,500 (inclusive of shift premium)
A leading performance engineering and precision manufacturing business is expanding its CNC team and is looking for experienced CNC Turner for its night shift operation.
This is not high‑volume, button‑press work. You’ll be machining complex, high‑precision components for demanding sectors (e.g. niche aerospace, motorsport, performance products) where tolerances are tight and quality is critical. Batch sizes are typically 1–20 off, with multiple tool changes per run and a real focus on craftsmanship.
Shift pattern & pay
* Nights: Monday–Thursday, 9:15pm–7:00am
* Approx. 9.25 hours per night (including breaks)
* Salary: £42,400–£43,500 (including shift premium)
* Training / induction initially carried out on day shift rate for the first few weeks
CNC Turner role
* Set and operate CNC lathes on complex, low‑volume components (1s, 5s, 10s, 20s – not large batches)
* Work to very tight tolerances for demanding end‑use applications
* Carry out multiple tool changes per job/run
* Read and interpret CNC programs and make on‑machine adjustments
* Identify and correct errors in programs (no need to write from scratch, but you must be able to re‑route / amend programs where needed)
* Work closely with team leaders on the shop floor during a busy production schedule
* Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and right‑first‑time output
What we’re looking for
You must be a genuine precision CNC Turner, not from a purely high‑volume environment.
Essential experience:
* Proven CNC turning experience in precision environments, such as:
* Niche aerospace
* Motorsport / performance engineering
* Other complex, tight‑tolerance, low‑volume machining
* Comfortable with short runs and one‑offs, where every part can be different
* Confident with multiple tool changes and working on intricate, highly detailed parts
* Ability to:
* Read and understand CNC code
* Spot and correct program issues on the machine
* Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, tool paths as required
* Strong understanding of precision machining, tooling, and inspection of own work
Candidates whose background is mainly large batch, simple repeat work where you only load/unload and press start will not be suitable for this position.
