We are recruiting for a Senior Cloud Platform Manager to own and drive forward our cloud adoption ensuring that we maximise the value from our Azure platform. You will ensure that the platform is resilient, scalable and cost optimised for services running within it. Reporting into the Head of IT, you will be responsible for developing a roadmap of cloud adoption and ensuring that the platform continually evolves to cater for future business needs. If you are a forward looking technical leader, who thrives working in a fast paced environment where technology is at the centre of our organisational goals, then this may be the job for you!
Who Are We?
Not just another building society. Not just another job.
We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.
Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
You will work as part of the IT department, reporting into the Head of IT, which is part of the broader Technology, Transformation and Resilience function of around 400 technology professionals.
What’s In It For You?
Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.
We have a range of other benefits available to you including;
* Annual discretionary bonus scheme
* 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
* Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
* Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
* Colleague mortgage (conditions apply)
* Salary sacrifice scheme for hybrid & electric car
* A commitment to training and development
* Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
* 3 paid volunteering days per annum
* Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
* We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership
What Will You Be Doing?
As part of our hybrid cloud strategy we are migrating many services from our datacentres into Azure, as well as developing greenfield solutions and products within the Azure platform. We have a large and complex change portfolio with technology related change right at the centre. You will be providing leadership to multiple teams who are involved with the continual evolution of the Azure platform. You will:
* Own and drive our cloud adoption and migration roadmap, defining and documenting target approaches for legacy applications and executing any relevant proof of concept activity to support the recommendations.
* Be responsible for the overall effective operation of our cloud platform, ensuring it follows industry standards for security and compliance, and that it supports the necessary performance targets required to support the business.
* Work with our Operational Resilience team to define and implement necessary resilience and disaster recovery approaches to support our regulatory requirements.
* Set up and lead a Cloud Centre of Excellence, bringing together key stakeholders (including architecture, IT, engineering, data, security, finance and legal) to ensure that effective governance frameworks are in place to maximise the value from the cloud platform and support the digital transformation of the organisation.
* Lead Product Owners and teams of engineers (operating in a matrix model) to deliver against the strategic vision
* Champion continuous learning, mentoring teams and identifying any skills gaps to be built into relevant training and development plans.
What Do We Need From You?
You will need to have experience of managing and operating a cloud platform (preferably Azure) at scale, implementing and overseeing the relevant processes and governance in order to maximise the value from the platform. Leadership in a hybrid environment of on premise and public cloud, defining and executing the approach to migration and effectively managing transition states. Experience of defining platform roadmaps that support future business needs, leading and inspiring technical product teams to deliver against committed goals. You will also need the following:
* Proven leadership of technology teams, driving technical excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Experience of managing large budgets, implementing FinOps best practice and the ability to forecast and track costs effectively
* To be comfortable operating in a fast paced environment, dealing with often conflicting priorities, and being able to manage and influence stakeholders effectively.
* Experience of managing supplier relationships working in partnership to derive value from the relationship
* Experience of improving the delivery of value, flow and quality through embedded systems thinking, agile, lean and devops practices to accelerate delivery.
* A diligent approach to platform management, promoting automation and reuse and being able to balance the need for control vs autonomy, ensuring just enough governance is in place to empower engineers within appropriate guardrails.
* Experience of owning and managing operational risks
* Strategic thinking and the ability to work across teams to build a shared vision empowering engineers to achieve technical excellence.
Diversity and inclusion are a priority for us as we continue to support our members and represent the communities we serve. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, age, family or parental status, beliefs, nationalities and religions - supporting an inclusive environment for all our colleagues to bring their true selves to Skipton.
If you have a disability, or if you have a condition that you believe may affect your performance during our selection process, we’ll be happy to discuss making reasonable adjustments to our processes for you. Please contact our Talent Acquisition team at talentacquisition@skipton.co.uk .
