We're working with a specialist SEMH school in Sunderland that is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate English Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis.
This specialist setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where young people are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.
We're looking for an inspiring English Teacher who understands the importance of relationships and can create engaging learning experiences that help pupils achieve their potential.
What you'll be doing
• Planning and delivering creative English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH needs
• Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress
• Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil achievement
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and senior leaders
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement through relationship-based practice
What we're looking for
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching English within a secondary setting
• A strong understanding of SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches is desirable
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• A calm, patient and resilient attitude
• A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
