A rewarding opportunity has become available for a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Knowsley on a full-time basis from September 2026. The school is seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to making a positive impact within a nurturing educational environment.
This specialist setting supports pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and complex autism needs. The school provides a highly supportive and inclusive atmosphere where staff work collaboratively to ensure every pupil receives the care, encouragement, and tailored support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils with PMLD, SLD, and complex additional needs throughout the school day
• Help create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment tailored to individual pupil needs
• Assist with personal care and daily routines where required
• Encourage pupil communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing through sensory-based approaches
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to support pupil progress
• Follow the school timetable and provide support throughout structured learning sessions
The Ideal Candidate
• Holds a relevant qualification such as NCFE, CACHE Level 2/3, or Health & Social Care
• Has previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally within PMLD or specialist settings
• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience within challenging situations
• Has strong communication and teamwork skills
• Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to supporting children with complex needs
