We are looking to recruit an Electrical Shift Engineer.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Shift Engineer:
The post holder should have extensive knowledge of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure, including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and related assets. As part of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for inspecting, operating, and maintaining all associated MEP assets within the critical facility, with a primary focus on risk management and service quality enhancement through technical engineering expertise.
As an electrical-biased engineer, you will lead Planned, Corrective, and Reactive Maintenance tasks and manage other assets when necessary. You should be capable of issuing PTWs, ensuring compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
Key duties include:
* Operational understanding of all MEP systems within the Critical Facility/Data Centre, with a bias towards Electrical systems. Making improvement recommendations and providing technical reports as required.
* Ensuring efficient completion and inspection of Specialist Vendor service visits, with communication of work quality and recommendations to the Shift Leader or Assistant Chief Engineer.
* Providing backup cover for engineering shifts during absences, maintaining minimum staffing levels, and supporting team members.
* Accurate reporting of work orders and detailed recording of critical spares and stock used.
* Participating in weekly and quarterly team meetings.
* Completing shift handover reports to communicate significant activities to incoming shifts and management.
* Engaging in health and safety activities, including hazard reporting and Toolbox Talks.
* Liaising with the supply chain for M&E component orders.
* Owning designated areas and ensuring they meet site standards.
* Assessing and escalating potential risks with mitigation strategies.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of safe work practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.
* Completing Reactive, Planned, and Corrective Work Orders per SFG20 standards to ensure asset reliability.
* Escalating ONWH Alarm Notifications following procedures.
* Accurately completing Corrigo Work Orders, recording time and work details without errors.
* Ensuring Work Orders are acknowledged and completed within SLA.
Personal qualifications and skills:
* At least 5 years of experience in Critical Environments such as Data Centres or Banking HQs.
* Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent; Mechanical Engineering experience is a plus.
* HVAC Engineering experience.
* Excellent communication skills across all levels.
* Proactive approach to operational excellence.
* Strong IT and report writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, remaining calm and delivering quality services within deadlines.
* Willingness to undertake on/off-site training, including nights away for specialized training like HV Authorised Person.
* High initiative and drive for continuous improvement.
* Strong customer service understanding and communication skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate professionalism, diligence, and punctuality.
