Job Title: Technical Lead
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a contract‑level Technical Lead to join the team supporting a multi‑site, technically complex contract that includes regulated and business‑critical environments.
Based across the three main sites in Sedgefield and Darlington, this contract‑level role acts as the Technical Lead, providing technical leadership to site engineers and supporting Operations Managers within the wider account structure.
The role ensures safe, compliant and high‑quality delivery of all engineering activities and is responsible for technical governance and assurance of self‑delivered and subcontracted works, acting as the technical point of contact for permits, LOTO, audits, root cause analysis and asset performance, with appropriate escalation where required.
Role Summary:
Ensure site technical services are delivered in compliance with legislative, client and CBRE health, safety and environmental programmes
Act as the primary Technical point of contact for all engineering activities, providing expert technical support to both the CBRE team and the client
Working alongside the operational team, plan, coordinate and oversee maintenance activities, ensuring resources are efficiently deployed and customer business interruption is minimised
Provide leadership, management and technical oversight of a team of engineers operating across multiple locations, ensuring consistent standards and effective service delivery
Act as the technical owner for permit‑to‑work systems and LOTO processes, ensuring full compliance and disciplined application across all sites
Review, approve and audit RAMS, permits, technical documentation and subcontractor paperwork, acting as the escalation point for technical risk or non‑compliance
Lead and participate in technical audits, root cause analysis investigations spot checks and quality inspections of both self‑delivered and subcontracted works to ensure high standards of workmanship
Provide hands‑on technical support during emergencies or critical failures and provide cover during holidays or sickness where required
Act as Authorised Person in relevant disciplines where appointed, or work towards Authorised Person status
Operate as the contract Technical Lead within the governance of the Operations Manager, ensuring technical decisions, risks and performance are clearly communicated and aligned.
Experience Requirements:
Mechanical or Electrical qualification with strong hands‑on technical background.
Previous experience in a Technical Lead, Authorised Person or senior engineering role within facilities management,
Strong knowledge of permit‑to‑work systems, LOTO and safe systems of work.
Experience auditing engineering activities and assuring quality of work.
Demonstrated ability to lead RCA, asset performance and reliability discussions.
Comfortable managing workloads across multiple sites.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to interface confidently with engineers, management and clients.
Experience with CAFM systems and work order processes
Experience in science, pharmaceutical, manufacturing or other regulated environments would be desirable
