INTERNAL ONLY (DCC Employees Only)
Devon County Council is looking for a dedicated and inspirational individual to lead the Network Operations Control Centre Team following the current postholder’s relocation. Working from the recently constructed 24/7 Network Operations Control Centre (NOCC), you will join the Network Operations Management Team and assist the wider Traffic Group in their duty to promote the expeditious movement of traffic throughout the County.
The role is varied and the successful candidate will join at an exciting time. From an operational perspective, no two days are the same and the postholder will play a critical role in the organisation’s response to severe weather and highway related emergencies. Equally, the successful candidate will have a strategic knowledge of emerging technology, assisting as Devon works towards carbon reduction commitments and transforming our network to accommodate future transport patterns. The role will also require the individual to manage the use of intelligent traffic systems, CCTV and weather data to support day to day activity and winter action.
This is a high-profile role and it requires an excellent level of communication skills to provide public reassurance through engagements with the media and senior stakeholders. This will be in parallel to efficient working with the Local Resilience Forum, emergency services, multi-agency partners and the wider council authority in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment.
Further information is contained in the Job Description and Person Specification.
Should you wish to have an informal discussion about the opportunity, please don’t hesitate to contact Richard Brown on 01392 383000.
Recruitment Process
DCC and the Devon Highways team strive to create a positive working environment and do so by working within key principles and behaviours. The Behaviours are described in terms of expectations and impact. Please familiarise yourselves with the following, as we will use our Principles and Behaviours as the underlying framework for selection.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in early June (Anticipated 4th June). The process will include a short presentation, behavioural questionnaire and traditional interview.
