Configuration Engineer and Data Controller
Location: Southampton, England, United Kingdom
We are looking for a Configuration Engineer and Data Controller to join the Detectors Engineering team at our Southampton site. The role combines Configuration Management and Data Control responsibilities, supporting engineering projects and ensuring compliance with Leonardo’s frameworks.
Location: Southampton, England, United Kingdom. Occasional travel to Basildon and other UK sites as required.
The position offers excellent professional growth and is hybrid: a minimum of two days per week on site.
Data Management Responsibilities
* Working with other engineering functions to carry out assigned Data and Document Management tasks across the company’s PDM and ERP systems, including data transfer/migration, new part number creation and document correction and verification.
* Adhering to local Data and Document Management procedures.
* Collaborating with colleagues to ensure project teams understand Data and Document requirements.
* Providing guidance to project teams on best practice.
* Supporting the achievement of project milestones.
* Working with the Quality Assurance function to align business processes with company standards.
Configuration Management Responsibilities
* Supporting the creation of Configuration Management Plans.
* Managing Configuration Management activities using the company’s PDM systems, including Teamcenter and PControls.
* Engaging with all business areas to address project Configuration Management matters.
* Generating project-level Configuration Management metrics to support functional reporting.
* Chairing or providing secretariat support for Configuration Control Board meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
IT Skills
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, with strength in Excel and Word.
Technical Competence
* Confident in reading and interpreting technical documentation, engineering drawings and parts lists.
Configuration Management Experience
Configuration Management and Planning
* Good understanding of Configuration Management principles and planning activities.
Configuration Identification
* With guidance, able to define and apply identification processes and produce project-specific requirements that align with delivery needs.
Configuration Change Management
* Experienced in representing Configuration Management at Change Control Boards (CCBs).
* Capable of assessing the business impact of proposed changes and resolving conflicts in change decisions.
Configuration Status Accounting (CSA)
* Skilled in defining and managing CSA requirements for partners and subcontractors.
* Experienced in analysing CSA data and supporting the production of metrics and KPIs.
* Able to present CSA information to external stakeholders and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Configuration Verification and Audit (CV&A)
* Knowledgeable in planning and managing CV&A activities throughout the project lifecycle.
* Experienced in supporting external audits to ensure successful project delivery.
Desirable Experience And Knowledge
* Familiarity with Ministry of Defence (MoD) security classifications and associated handling requirements.
* Practical experience with Siemens Teamcenter Unified and Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
* Working knowledge of SAP R/3 and SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII).
