We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Chef de Partie to join our amazing Food team. As a Chef de Partie, your role is pivotal in ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly, assisting with menu planning, meal preparation, and delivering great customer service. Working within The Lab Café situated on the Londoneast-UK business and technical park you will provide essential support to the Chef Manager and contribute to the overall culinary experience, bringing ideas and innovation to create and deliver great tasting and healthy food.
Below are the responsibilities and requirements for the role.
Responsibilities
* Develop and test new dishes by working closely with the executive chef to experiment with new ingredients and cooking techniques to create innovative and appealing dishes that can be added to the menu.
* Prepare and cook meals, ensuring consistency and high standards in taste and presentation.
* Oversee portioning and plating to ensure consistency in presentation and adherence to the restaurant’s standards, creating visually appealing plates that enhance the dining experience.
* Coordinate kitchen operations to ensure timely delivery of food orders, manage workflow, and monitor progress across kitchen stations to meet service standards and minimise delays.
* Comply with dietary and allergy requirements, maintaining protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
* Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to ensure the kitchen is adequately supplied.
* Handle unexpected situations calmly under pressure, make quick decisions, and implement contingency plans to maintain smooth operations.
* Inspect food and ingredients for freshness and quality to ensure all dishes meet Café standards.
* Maintain detailed records of food safety and hygiene practices and ensure kitchen staff adhere to these practices to meet legislative and industry requirements.
* Support planning and execution of special events, banquets, and catering functions.
* Keep up to date with culinary trends and innovations, incorporating new techniques and ingredients into the menu.
* Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
* Streamline kitchen processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications & Experience
* A professional certification, diploma or degree in culinary arts, or a qualification in catering/hospitality management or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of Food Safety & Hygiene Level 3.
* Proven track record of working as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role.
* Expertise in food preparation, presentation, and quality control.
* Experience in conducting regular kitchen inspections to ensure cleanliness and organisation.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for cooking and the culinary arts, with a strong desire to create exceptional dishes.
Working Arrangements
* Working pattern: Monday to Friday - 36 hours per week. (7 am - 3 pm)
* Employment type: Full-time - permanent
