Job Description
The Regulatory and Market Initiatives (RMI) team engages with strategic developments across international securities markets, particularly those that impact trading and settlement, transfers and administration of securities, transparency of share ownership, management of general meetings, corporate actions and shareholder communications. This team of international market experts develops, shares, and implements appropriate strategies to capitalise on, initiate, or respond to global regulatory and market developments impacting issuers, investors, and markets globally, working closely with our local business experts in each market.
RMI is looking for a motivated Manager to join the team in developing and implementing strategies to respond to a wave of change in capital markets, helping to reduce market inefficiencies, leverage the benefits of technologies to grow our business, support clients and shareholders, and respond to market structure and regulatory changes. This role will focus on developments in the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will work with senior management to analyse major market and regulatory developments, assess impact on Computershare’s business structure, operations and strategy, and on our clients. You will identify opportunities and threats arising from strategic initiatives, provide advice and input into the development and delivery of response approaches, influence market and regulatory outcomes, and identify potential commercial opportunities for Computershare. Your strong communication skills will help you present complex issues and represent Computershare, including liaising with senior stakeholders, policymakers and negotiating preferred outcomes.
You will be based in our Bristol or London office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for some of your working week.
Qualifications
* Good understanding of capital markets and the roles of key stakeholders in it. Ability to understand new technologies influencing markets.
* Strong understanding of the UK and/or key EU markets.
* Understanding of core concepts of securities ownership.
* Strong analytical experience, ability to review complex material and identify key issues for Computershare. Ability to tackle problems and take independent action, act on opportunities and generate new ideas.
* Strategy, policy or senior operations background preferred.
* Ability to understand operational, market structure and legal/regulatory concepts and requirements, and contextualise the strategic impact on Computershare’s business model and role in capital markets.
* Strong oral and written communications – ability to present complex issues internally and externally, liaise and negotiate with peers and senior management, represent Computershare externally, including negotiating preferred outcomes in developments.
* High level ability to read and digest complex material, including regulatory provisions and some technical aspects, and assess business impact.
* Degree level education (or equivalent) and a robust issuer services related industry background.
