The Role
To provide a patient administration service within the Health Records Department, which administratively underpins the patient’s journey to and through the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient care, to meet the needs of patients and health care professionals.
The working pattern for this role is Monday – Friday, between 07:00 am and 06:00 pm.
Responsibilities
* To ensure confidentiality of patient information is maintained at all times.
* Responsible for managing clinic appointments using the patient/clinical management systems, including booking appointments, sending out letters and clinical information, changing appointments as directed by consultants and responding to changes as requested by patients.
* To provide an efficient, customer‑friendly service to all reception areas, ensuring all patients are received in a courteous and considerate manner, discreetly checking and maintaining patient details including address, telephone numbers and email addresses.
* Provide 24‑hour retrieval of health records for emergency admissions.
What You’ll Bring
* A knowledge of health records gained through experience and/or qualification at SVQ level 2, ECDL or equivalent.
* Customer care skills.
* Computer‑literate and keyboard skills.
* Experience in multi‑tasking.
* Knowledge of Confidentiality and Data Protection.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time working hours will be reduced on a pro‑rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
