VIQU IT is partnering with a leading organisation specialising in HVAC and specialist ventilation systems for safety‑critical facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design projects, drive innovation in HVAC systems, and work closely with senior engineering leadership.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll design and develop HVAC systems for various building types, ensuring they are energy‑efficient, sustainable, and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
* Designing HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment layout.
* Performing heating and cooling load calculations using industry‑standard software.
* Selecting HVAC equipment and preparing technical specifications.
* Developing detailed design drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar tools.
* Ensuring compliance with building codes and energy regulations.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
* Conducting site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
* Preparing cost estimates and supporting procurement processes.
* Integrating sustainable and energy‑efficient design practices.
What You’ll Need
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
* Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Hevacomp).
* Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM workflows.
* Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
* Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (CIBSE, BS EN).
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Experience in Energy, Defence, Transport, or similar sectors is desirable.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it and CIBSE membership are a plus.
