Area: Newcastle upon Tyne.
Hours: 9.5 hours holiday time / 4 hours fortnightly term time. Holiday time and term time can be applied for as separate roles.
Rate: £14.75 per hour.
Driver with own vehicle essential.
Toby is a happy, fun‑loving, affectionate 6‑year‑old boy who lives with his parents and older sister. He loves being outdoors, in playgrounds especially the swings and trampolining and spending time on his iPad. Toby also loves his food and particularly snacking, pizza and pasta and visiting McDonalds being his favourites and to top it all, a slice of cake. He loves being in water, but you have to have to be vigilant as he has no sense of danger when outside especially when near rivers or streams.
Toby has been diagnosed with ASD, Sensory Processing Disorder and Global Developmental Delay and is non‑verbal. He is starting to use PECS and will take your hand to communicate when he wants to show you. He wears nappies so there will be personal care involved and when out and about must always have his hand held and supervised closely at all times.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care to Toby, including assistance with nappies.
* Supervise Toby at all times, particularly during outdoor activities and near bodies of water.
* Transport Toby as required, ensuring safe trips and maintaining his hand held during travel.
* Communicate using PECS and respond to his gestures when he wants to show you.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Driver with own vehicle essential; mileage will be reimbursed.
* Experience caring for children with Autism and/or learning disabilities.
* Enthusiastic and genuinely interested in working with children.
* Must have permission to work in the UK at the time of employment.
* Subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references.
