GigaLegal Solicitors is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Immigration Solicitor to join our dynamic and growing team at our Dagenham branch, RM10 9UR (casework unit). The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting private immigration clients and skilled individuals with a wide range of UK immigration matters.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, a solid understanding of UK immigration rules, and a genuine passion for helping businesses and professionals successfully navigate complex immigration procedures. You will be expected to manage case files independently, liaise with clients and the Home Office, and provide accurate legal advice under the supervision of experienced solicitors.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert legal advice and representation in complex immigration, asylum, and human rights cases.
* Prepare and present appeals before the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and Upper Tribunal.
* Draft and manage judicial review claims, grounds, and associated applications.
* Handle administrative review applications and related correspondence with the Home Office.
* Represent clients in asylum matters, including detention and urgent removal cases.
* Prepare high-quality legal documents: witness statements, skeleton arguments, pre-action protocol letters, and substantive grounds of appeal.
* Maintain compliance with regulatory standards including the SRA.
* Mentor and support junior staff, paralegals, and trainees as required.
* Maintain accurate client records, billing, and file management in line with firm procedures.
Qualifications
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Basic IT skills for maintaining electronic records and documentation.
* Empathy and understanding of diverse backgrounds and challenges faced by clients.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales with a valid practising certificate.
* Minimum 2–3+ years’ experience in immigration and asylum law.
* Demonstrated expertise in appeals, judicial review, administrative review, and asylum cases.
* Strong advocacy skills and experience in Immigration Tribunal.
* Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage a busy and complex caseload with competing priorities.
