Clinical Support Assistant

An exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join the Neurological Rehabilitation Outpatient Department on a fixed-term contract for 12 months, working full time (37.5 hours per week). The post will be based at Walkergate Park but may require travel to outreach clinics across the region.
You will play a key role in supporting the daily running of the department and assisting within outpatient clinics. This post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist neuro rehabilitation service as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Support the day-to-day running of the Neuro Rehabilitation Outpatient Department and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Work closely with practitioners, supporting clinics and assisting with delegated clinical tasks.
Provide support to patients attending appointments, preparing clinic areas, and supporting the flow of patients through the service.
May be required to undertake physical health observations and basic assessments in line with your competencies and training.
Involved in moving and handling of patients and equipment, assisting patients with personal cares and hand hygiene.
Also involved in non-clinical tasks such as departmental admin, audits and linking with supply chains.
Communicate effectively with patients, families and carers, helping to promote dignity and deliver a positive patient experience.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and motivated, with the ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and use their own initiative.
Good communication, organisation and time-management skills are required.

Person Specification
Education and Training
* Senior Healthcare Support Worker or commitment to work towards
* 5 GCSE grades 4 and/or above including English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Experience of working with/caring for people with a Neurological Condition
* Good organisational and planning skills
* Experience/competent in moving and handling people
* Competent in standard basic keyboard/computer skills
* Competent in carrying out physical observations eg BP monitoring
