Due to our continual growth, we have a new position for a Design Engineer based in our premises at Blaenavon. If you are customer focused, solutions orientated and strive for excellence then you could be just what our business is looking for.Our ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering qualification or demonstrable experience. They will have a sound knowledge of fabricating, welding, and machining processes along with a good understanding of materials handling equipment, from both technical and manufacturing aspects, (screw conveyors, mixers, belt conveying, metering feeders, discharging aids)Candidates are required to have excellent 2D (essential) & 3D (desirable) draughting skills whilst the ability to interpret P&ID drawings would be advantageous. The duties of the role are:Interpreting contract documentation and specifications ensuring that equipment is designed and manufactured in accordance with industry regulations and project specificationsTaking part in production/project review meetings to ensure timescales are adhered toProducing a high standard of 2D general arrangements and layout drawings for manufactureProducing a high standard of 2D detailed drawings to enable engineering tradespersons to manufacture machined and fabricated parts Producing sheet/plate pattern development profiles for laser cutting and fabricatingLiaising with sales, project teams and managementCreating parts lists, bills of materials and identifying materials and proprietary items to be purchased for manufacture to ensure timely arrival of required materials Meeting and improving costs where applicable and feasible using recognised cost analysis methodsDeveloping new innovative products to supplement the existing product rangeTo succeed in this role, you will need good communication and organisational skills. You will be self-motivated with a desire to set high standards of work performance for yourself and others.You will be a team player and have the ability to work using your own initiative.
