Overview
We are looking for an innovative, motivated and enthusiastic psychological therapist, nurse or DBT therapist to join our well‑established DBT hub, which operates across CNWL CAMHS services in Harrow, Brent, Kensington and Chelsea, Hillingdon and Westminster.
You will work with young people in Hillingdon who have complex needs related to complex trauma. They struggle with emotional regulation, engage in risk‑taking behaviours, recurrent self‑harm and suicidal behaviours.
The role involves training in DBT and providing 2.5 days a week in Hillingdon, acting as a core member of the Enhanced Treatment Team.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to psychologically informed assessments, specifically concerning complex trauma, complex mood or personality disorder, integrating data from multiple sources.
* Formulate, implement and evaluate therapeutic programmes for a range of complex problems.
* Engage in individual and group sessions that may be emotionally intense and unpredictable.
* Deliver evidence‑based individual and group interventions, preferably Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
* Facilitate short‑term psycho‑education groups based on evidence‑based practice.
* Conduct risk assessment and risk management for all service‑users, including protective and risk factors within significant relationships.
* Provide crisis intervention to clients as and when indicated.
* Lead safeguarding investigations and demonstrate competence in safeguarding legislation.
* Employ highly developed communication and DBT‑specific therapeutic competencies to tailor interventions to sensitive difficulties.
* Embed trauma‑informed approaches within the treatment pathway.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment and treatment in line with service standards.
* Take lead roles where appropriate, planning and reviewing care plans and risk assessments with service users, carers and other professionals.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract, ensuring a minimum number of contacts per week to minimise waiting times and maximise accessibility.
Qualifications
* Real commitment and compassion for working with this client group across a diverse population.
* Excellent psychological assessment and intervention skills, particularly in delivering NICE‑recommended interventions.
* Experience delivering evidence‑based treatments for people with personality disorder is essential.
* Preferably experienced working within specialist CAMHS services.
* Strong commitment to recovery principles, multi‑disciplinary collaboration and service‑user involvement.
* Ability to work with clients who are reticent about engaging with mental‑health services.
* Strong team skills and capacity to collaborate with other staff members.
