Job Purpose of the Maintenance Controller
The role will sit within the Fleet Management team at my clients Wolverhampton Head Office supporting the team with authorising work to be carried out. This role requires a strong technical knowledge of HGV’s as will involve interaction with drivers, technicians, suppliers, and customers.
This is a role for someone who wishes to utilise their mechanical/ garage/ workshop experience in a fleet maintenance control environment so could suit a fully qualified HGV Technician who is looking to move off the tools into an office-based role
Main duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Controller
* Authorising Repairs for Drive in vehicles and updating the system to track and monitor the progress.
* Sourcing parts for repairs and looking at alternative cost-effective parts to limit spend on the older assets.
* Assisting the fleet customer support team on advice of where to send a vehicle for repair or whom they should pass the job too.
* Authorising breakdown repairs, updating the system and updating the customer on the progress of that repair
* Approving live defects on the R2C Platform and liaising with the team to obtain a PO for any damage related defects.
* Authorising final spend on repairs from within the authorisation inbox.
* Looking at the quickest and most cost-effective way of getting VOR vehicle’s back up and running.
* Assisting with breakdown calls and passing jobs out (When and if there are staff shortages)
* Going through the Recharge Queries spreadsheet to resolve any outstanding queries.
* Passing any jobs for warranty, credits or good will to the relevant person to follow up.
Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge required for the Maintenance Controller
* Ability to understand technical work required / time frame needed to complete
* Very good technical knowledge gained in a Workshop environment and also someone who can interact at all levels to make sure the vehicle down time is minimal
* Experience and knowledge of Compliance would also be useful.
* Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Must be proactive and be able to pay keen attention to the smallest of details
* Strong IT skills – internal systems, Microsoft excel, outlook etc
* Ability to work as part of a team and equally un-supervised
