Your main responsibility will be to develop and advance the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and ensuring the success of the project. Your expertise will be crucial in achieving effective implementation.
You will:
* Coordinate and gather input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Offer technical insights/feedback during Defra Policy discussions to incorporate regulatory requirements into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations concerning Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additionally, you will:
* Lead on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, providing technical advice and linking to waste tracking.
* Support broader regulatory reforms related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team, supporting and enhancing team objectives.

The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing unit within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead hazardous waste management efforts, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste handling.

The role is based in an EA office with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
