Job Description

Responsibilities for the Spinal Instruments Development Engineer include:

1. Lead product development for spinal implant instruments, ensuring compliance with FDA and ISO standards.
2. Design instrument systems for lumbar and cervical fusion procedures, including MIS-compatible workflows.
3. Collaborate with surgeons and KOLs to gather feedback and customize instruments.
4. Participate in cadaver labs and OR observations to refine ergonomics and usability.
5. Work closely with implant design teams for seamless integration.
6. Perform CAD modeling, FEA, and mechanical evaluations.
7. Manage timelines, risks, and cross-functional communication.
8. Maintain design documentation and support regulatory submissions.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Spinal Instruments Development Engineer should have:

9. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
10. 5-7+ years of medical device development experience, preferably in spinal or orthopedic instruments.
11. Direct experience collaborating with spine surgeons.
12. Proficiency in CAD tools, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
13. Knowledge of materials, coatings, and sterilization standards.
14. Strong understanding of design controls, usability engineering, and regulatory pathways.
15. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
